Dr. Shivam Patel
Founder and Program Director
Dr. Shivam Patel is a clinician-educator, practice owner, and the founder of the Midwest Institute for Advanced Education (MIAE). He holds a DDS from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry and completed undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in Biological Sciences.
Following dental school, Dr. Patel completed comprehensive implant training through the AAID Maxicourse in Atlanta, GA (2012), then joined the Atlanta Center for Restorative Dentistry, where he trained under Dr. Edward Mills and built a foundation in full-arch rehabilitation, implant surgery, and restorative excellence over six years of mentorship and clinical development.
Dr. Patel is an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) and has completed the written examination toward Diplomate status with the American Board of Oral Implantology (ABOI), with case submission and oral examination in progress. He serves as IT and Communications Chairman for the Advanced Dental Implant Studies (ADIS) program.
Dr. Patel is a Certified Care Esthetics Provider and Trainer, and integrates PRF-based regenerative esthetic protocols alongside implant and restorative care at his practice.
Today, Dr. Patel owns and leads the Midwest Center for Dentistry and Implants (MCDI) in Bensenville, IL — a fully digital, tech-forward practice spanning implant surgery, full-arch rehabilitation, laser dentistry, and facial esthetics. He has built MCDI around a paperless, integrated clinical workflow that produces highly predictable, patient-centered outcomes.
As an educator, Dr. Patel founded MIAE to fill a gap he experienced firsthand: the absence of mentorship-based, integrative training that connects implants, regenerative biology, digital workflows, and facial esthetics in a single clinical framework. MIAE's courses are taught live from MCDI's operatories, giving participants real-world surgical and restorative exposure alongside a practicing clinician — not a lecture hall.
Dr. Marvin Chan
Program Co-Director
Dr. Chan earned his DMD from Western University of Health Sciences in 2013. He owns and operates multiple practices in the Cleveland area, including Advanced Restorative Solutions in Sheffield, where he places and restores implants. He is an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AFAAID) and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI).
Alongside clinical practice, Dr. Chan consults for general dental practices on the systems behind sustainable implant volume — case acceptance, scheduling, team structure, and the financial mechanics most clinical courses leave out.
At MIAE he co-teaches both halves of the curriculum with Dr. Patel: the clinical workflow and the practice systems that support it.
